Nursery Newsletter for October

Dear Parent/Carer

Nursery Open Evening: Wednesday 10th October 2018 6.30pm to 8pm

Just to remind parents/carers that our Nursery Open Evening takes place on Wednesday of this week.  Nursery staff will be delighted to welcome you to nursery and discuss the nursery curriculum and your child’s progress so far this session.  I do hope as many parents as possible will be able to drop in throughout the evening.

Nursery Coffee Morning/Afternoon

Thank you to parents/carers who managed along to this last week. It was agreed to host one of these per term and we will vary the days to try to accommodate working parents. As discussed, we hope to have access to the former Kiwi room by the end of October.  Once we are organised into our extended provision, we will offer some open sessions for parents/carers to see our nursery.

Stay and Play Session

Following the October holiday, we would like to offer parents the opportunity to come into nursery for a “Stay and Play” session.  The purpose of this is to see your child in the nursery environment and share their nursery experience.  Each session would last 30mins and would take place between 9.30and 11.30am or 1.15pm and 3.15pm.  Please complete the form below and return this to the nursery or e-mail our school office with your preferred time.

Follow us on Twitter: @stkennethsek

We hope to make more use of Twitter for our nursery class with photographs of what the children have been doing in nursery.  If you wish to follow us, please return the agreement form which has been issued. Nursery newsletters, messages and reminders will all be posted on the school app.

Book Fair

The Book Fair from “The Travelling Book Company” will be in school from Monday 22nd October 2017.   The leaflet is for information only.  Books can only be bought during Book Fair week.  We do not order books but have asked the book company to provide us with plenty of copies of popular items.

There will be an opportunity for parents and children to come along to the Book Fair Wednesday 24th October from 3.15pm to 4pm.  The Book Fair takes place in the school dining hall.  Please come through the front entrance and you will be directed from there.

The nursery class benefits from the fair through commission books for the nursery library …. so happy spending!!

Many thanks for your support

Hallowe’en: Wednesday 31st October 2018

On this day the nursery will be having a Hallowe’en party during each nursery session. Children can come to nursery dressed up in their costume – if they wish. There will be a special Hallowe’en snack on this day.

Policies and Procedures

The policy/procedures being reviewed during October are “Procedures for Using the Outdoor Area”.

We would be most obliged if you could take time to have a look at the policy and give us your comments or ideas for improvement. Evaluation forms/pens can be found on the table in the nursery reception. This helps us to ensure best practice in our nursery.

The policies/procedures are displayed in the nursery reception as well as being available on our website. Copies are also available should you wish to take this away to read.

Suggestions

We have a suggestion box in nursery. The planning wall in nursery also gives parents/carers an opportunity to add suggestions to the learning and activities that are taking place. Feedback from parents helps us provide the best opportunities for children so if you have any suggestions we would be delighted to hear them. Thank you.

Holidays

Just to remind you that the nursery will close on Friday 12th October ‘18 at the usual times and re-open on Monday 22nd October 18.

I hope all our families have a lovely October break.

Yours sincerely

Geraldine O’Hanlon

Head Teacher
