Aim of Procedures

To ensure that there is a safe nursery environment which will safeguard the health and well-being of children, parents/carers and staff.

1 All staff must be aware of and accept responsibility for health and safety in the nursery.
2 Fire exits must be kept clear of obstructions and the back gate must be unlocked.
3 Equipment must be used appropriately and electrical cables must not be stretched across areas where children or adults will walk.
4 Staff must report any dangerous object/fault to the Janitor and Head Teacher.
5 Staff must also report any dangerous occurrence within the nursery, including dangerous practice by workmen.
6 Staff can access health and safety procedures and guidelines in the Head Teacher’s office. The Head Teacher has overall responsibility for health and safety within the school and nursery.
