Primary 5 Music Programme
Every Wednesday the whole Primary 5 year group participated in music lessons with Miss Hollinger, who is part of the council’s instrumental music service. We did lots of fun body percussion, listened to popular songs and kept the beat with them. We also learned about the orchestra, by listening to famous pieces of music, identifying the instruments played, parts of the orchestra and watching famous conductors. My favourite instrument was the piccolo. I loved the way it sounds. We had about 20 weeks of music and we learned about a range of topics. Most of the lessons were online but we managed 2 weeks of live lessons in the gym hall. It was so fun. We learned so much about music – keeping in time to the beat, rhythm and listening for notes. We actually had a lesson on conducting! It was amazing waving our pencils about and pretending to be conductors. We learned all the moves conductors use and practiced with some music.
